Web Jam crew member Marc Bolick leaded this "book club" session. We delved into what we learned from reading The Wizard and the Prophet, a book that traces the origins of two contrasting views on the future of humans on our planet. We explored some of the stories and the key points of difference between the two approaches to how we as humans interact with our natural environment. The dominant logic of our time is the logic of binaries: 0/1. Male/female. Good/bad. Winner/loser. Becoming aware of using this logic, seeing the consequences more clearly and getting to know some alternatives is at the core of this Wednesday Web Jam. We moved into the in-betweens and beyonds of the binaries and we uncovered a world of dramatic abundance and potentials. After the success of hosting the Empathy Tent session back in the summer of 2021, the Web Jam crew decided to bring back another in 2022! What is empathy? What does it feel like? How does one give the gift of empathy to others? We borrow the idea of an Empathy Tent to pair listeners with people who just want to open up and share, and be heard in a non-judgemental way. Then, we’ll dive into the experience and explore what we learned about empathy. |
