Exclusion happens when we solve problems using our own biases. Whether it’s due to permanent, temporary, or situational limitations, everyone experiences exclusion as they interact with products and services. We as designers seek and use them as opportunities to create new ideas and inclusive designs. Instead of defining a disability as a personal health condition, the methodology argues that a disability should be defined as mismatched human interactions. During this session, Josephine told the story of how Microsoft has created a Design methodology that enables and draws on the full range of human diversity, and how we can apply it.
