Web Jam crew member Marc Bolick leaded this "book club" session. We delved into what we learned from reading The Wizard and the Prophet, a book that traces the origins of two contrasting views on the future of humans on our planet. We explored some of the stories and the key points of difference between the two approaches to how we as humans interact with our natural environment.

The dominant logic of our time is the logic of binaries: 0/1. Male/female. Good/bad. Winner/loser. Becoming aware of using this logic, seeing the consequences more clearly and getting to know some alternatives is at the core of this Wednesday Web Jam. We moved into the in-betweens and beyonds of the binaries and we uncovered a world of dramatic abundance and potentials. After the success of hosting the Empathy Tent session back in the summer of 2021, the Web Jam crew decided to bring back another in 2022! What is empathy? What does it feel like? How does one give the gift of empathy to others? We borrow the idea of an Empathy Tent to pair listeners with people who just want to open up and share, and be heard in a non-judgemental way. Then, we’ll dive into the experience and explore what we learned about empathy. Wednesday Web Jam no. 91 - "Prototyping Jam" with Marc Bolick, Yuen Yen Tsai and Adam Lawrence2/10/2022 Marc will joined by his friends and fellow facilitators Yuen Yen Tsai 蔡婉茵, Adam StJohn Lawrence and another secret guest as we experiment with different methods of prototyping collaboratively online. You will be helping and bringing your best creative techniques and skills. Join us for some fun learning! Kindness can be expressed in different ways, but what does it take to truly show Courageous Kindness? Join Cornelia Walther to go on a journey in which we can ultimately manifest kindness. To manifest it, we will explore the POZE paradigm, and it will take us to reflect on four core values: generosity, compassion, honesty and courage. Wednesday Web Jam no. 89 - “Ideal Digital Service” open discussion at Web Jam Tea Bar Beer Pub1/28/2022 Join us for a casual session to explore, discuss and experiment. We will be reflecting on what we think is the most ideal digital service. As designers, we use different methodologies to develop services that are engineered to create the most favorable design outcome for the intended user. Does it happen? Share your journeys. We will be using an open discussion and some exploration format to energize everyone towards healthy exchanges. Let’s chat about what we see as most workable as opposed to the least effective, over a nice brewing conversation at the WWJ Tea Bar Beer Pub. If you have a hard time explaining what you do, or find your Linkedin headline or Instagram bio too abstract, this session is for you! With a creative exercise, our guest speaker Claudia Mayer will help you uncover key elements of your work, why it matters and to whom. With the help of a simple pitch template you formulate a new version, and test it on the spot to spice it up. Wednesday Web Jam no. 87 - "Competing Pressures: Designing for Behavior Change” with Matt Wallaert1/12/2022 When we build products, we often have very specific behavioral goals in mind, things we want users not just to think and feel but actually do. And yet our design process so rarely takes what we know about changing behaviors into account. Join behavioral scientist Matt Wallaert as he talks about Competing Pressures Design, a psychology-based method for thinking about product and service design, using science, startups, and plenty of practical examples to help you put theory into practice. |
