Much focus has been placed on leadership development in past years, with the emphasis being on designing training programmes to develop the leadership skills and capabilities of those in formal leadership positions or those aspiring to “climb the ladder”. Leadership training programmes tend to be highly commoditized. We do however need to ensure that all those in the system are developed to be empowered to effectively contribute to the organisational goals and objectives.
